Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Howard Diesel Performance at (832) 521-5777; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Magnolia is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Magnolia follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very professional and friendly. I dropped my truck off for a turbo and I was back on the road the following day. Great service and fair prices. Thanks Blake and Dane.

We have a fleet of 10 trucks and Howard Diesel is hands down the best shop we have ever used. They handle all our repairs and maintenance and to date have built 2 motors for us as well. Dane is a beast with the Cat C15 and has these motors on point. Highly recommend this shop for all your repair needs.

My husbands truck was starting to act up, the speedometer was jumping. My husband called on a Thursday, they said to bring it in, they would try to get to it Friday but would probably be Monday. Wednesday, almost a week later, they still haven't called us about our truck. So my husband calls, and they say "I'm not sure let me call you back" and they never called back. It took 18 days for us to get our truck back, AND they didn't even fix the problem! AND they broke the hinge for the hood, so we got our truck back worse than we put it in. There was absolutely zero communication, they never once called us about the truck to tell us what was going on, and they were just completely unprofessional. Do NOT take your vehicle here.

I have been in the trucking industry for 30 years, and I have owned multiple trucks in that space of time. With that being said, I have had the unfortunate experience of visiting numerous Repair shops throughout the country. When it comes to Howard Diesel these guys are a lost gem, they take pride in their work. They took the time to walk me through the process step by step and got the job done in a timely manner. My downtime was held to a minimum and what they said they were going to fix they fixed and had me back on the road in no time at all. Thanks you Blake and Dane You guys are my mechanics from this day forth.

Same situation with the review below. Absolutely by far the worst customer service. If there was less than one star I would choose that. They kept my truck which had minor issues for a month. Never followed up at all. I called and called to be told every time they would call me back. I finally just had to go and get it to take it to another mechanic. If your truck isn’t an RV or Big Rig they don’t care. Horrible. I was really hoping this would be my go to shop for diesels.
